After learning more about the African culture, today we had a visit from a Massai warrior. We saw the jumping and celebration clothes. We all had a go at dressing up with our own handmade necklaces and joining in the traditional dancing and singing.
Check out the fun we have had in our traditional Massai mud hut house.

Handwashing to keep germs away. The children were able to explain why handwashing is so important. They discussed germs going in out bodies when we eat so it is good to wash hands before lunch and tea. We have learnt a song to help us wash thoroughly and not forget out thumbs!

We took deep breaths, listening to only our breathing and feeling how our tummies move. We continued with more yoga and used the website go zen to practise more relaxation techniques.
Jambo!
Look at the wonderful work Bluebells have done while learning about Amazing Africa! We've been on safari, learnt facts about wild African animals, painted wild animals, made drums and had a drum workshop and found out where Africa is on the map and why the country is so hot. Ask your children about the seven continents of the world and the equator. We have looked at many photos and interesting videos which show us similarities and differences to the country we live in. In our English work we have learnt the story of Handa's surprise and have produced some wonderful stories. Take a look at all the fun we've had. Relax!
We chatted about what relaxing means and why we have to do this for our bodies. Bella said we have to give ourselves a rest and rest our brains. We shared what we do at home to make us relaxed. Zephie said she has a hot chocolate before bed and Eliza has some supper. Dexter counts to 100 and Rhys loves lying on the sofa watching TV. We all did some relaxing yoga and some children loved this so much they carried on into the afternoon. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1p-XmnJzznk We all said something we were good at. Children were focussing on sport and being a good friend. This continued when we said something about someone else in our class. The children could tell me that they enjoyed playing with people who make them laugh and people who look after each other when they have fallen over. 'I love playing with Tillie because she's really good at the interstar' - Oscar 'I like playing with Jude because he makes me laugh' - Teddy 'I like Clara because she is always kind to me' - Eliza We have been reading about and exploring the feelings of loss. We have read the book Dogger and could all relate to the sense of loss when Alfie couldn't find his beloved dog toy. We had lots of discussions on our feelings during similar situations. We used language such as frustrated, angry, annoyed, sad and scared. Click the link to have a listen at home https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jNOYgRf5jes |
